Mr. Wesley Penn of Accurate Construction has been awarded a contract to repair nine homes, under the Government’s Housing Recovery Assistance Programme.

Mr. Penn’s construction company was chosen following a competitive tender process conducted by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) on behalf of the UK
Foreign and Commonwealth Office in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

The project aims to repair up to 30 homes that sustained low to moderate damages during the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Building supplies have also been procured that will facilitate additional housing recovery projects.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Mrs. Petrona Davies said that she is grateful for the support being rendered during this time to provide help to persons in need.

The Housing Recovery Assistance Programme functions in accordance with the Virgin Islands Housing Recovery Policy and Hurricane Irma Housing Recovery Plan 2017 to 2019. Persons interested in applying to the Housing Recovery Assistance Programme are encouraged to do so by May 31.

Applications can be obtained by visiting the Old Peebles Hospital (Annex) at the Housing Recovery Unit, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the Social Development Department across from the Red Cross Building in Road Town; or the District Offices on the sister islands.  Persons can also access applications online with the listed requirements at www.bvi.gov.vg.
