Residents of Pockwood Pond, Towers, West End, and surrounding areas are invited to a community meeting on Tuesday, September 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Zion Hill Methodist Church.

The purpose of the meeting is to give an update on fire mitigation and remedial work at the dumpsite at Pockwood Pond and address the concerns of the affected community and interested persons.  

Officials expected to address the community meeting include Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton; Manager of the Department of Waste Management, Mr. Greg Massicote; Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ronald Georges; and Chief Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Lionel Michael. Permanent Secretaries for the Ministries of Health and Social Development, and Communications and Works, along with the Chief Fire Officer will also be in attendance.

Residents are asked to make a special effort to attend.
