Mr. Denniston Fraser, Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority Ltd. (BVIAA) hereby informs the travelling public of the closure of the Auguste George Airport, Anegada.  This closure he said was necessitated by the un-serviceability of the main Fire Tender.

Mr. Fraser further stated that the BVI Airports Authority expects to receive the equipment needed to repair the Fire Tender, today, Friday, February 8.  Once the equipment is received works on the Fire Tender, he said, will be carried out tomorrow, Saturday, February 9 to bring the Fire Tender back to serviceability.

There then being no delays in the repair works or unexpected circumstances, the Auguste George Airport will be re-opened at 2:00pm. Tomorrow, Saturday, February 9.

Persons scheduled to travel to Anegada by air are encouraged to contact their airline representative for alternate arrangements.

We, the BVI Airports Authority, apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the closure of the Airport, and thank the travelling public for its indulgence as we seek to ensure safety is maintained at all times.
