The Ministry of Education and Culture, in collaboration with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) will launch the Financial Services Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) Syllabus tomorrow, November 3.

Acting Premier, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick D. Pickering; Minister for Education and Culture, Honourable Myron V. Walwyn; Interim Executive Director of BVI Finance, Mrs. Lorna Smith, OBE; CXC Registrar, Mr. Glenroy Cumberbatch; and CXC Assistant Registrar, Dr. Annette Piper will deliver remarks at the ceremony which begins tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

Financial Services was introduced as a compulsory subject into the curriculum of Virgin Islands secondary schools in the latter part of 2012.  Later, the Ministry of Education and Culture initiated discussions with CXC for the development of a Financial Services Syllabus at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) level. With the help of technical experts from the Virgin Islands and around the region on the subject, the CAPE Financial Services Syllabus will be ready for examination in 2017.
