A new parking lot electronic ticketing system is now fully operational at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport parking lot.
Managing Director, Mr. Denniston Fraser stated that the new system will help to maintain order and security, whilst improving safety for all international and local customers at the pick-up and drop-off site.
Mr. Frasersaid the ticket system includes a barrier and ticket dispenser at the entrance, an automated pay machine at the terminal, and a barrier and ticket verifier at the exit of the parking lot at the airport.
He added, “After passing the entrance barrier and collecting your ticket, you will be charged an administrative fee of $1.00. After spending 31 minutes at the terminal, a parking fee of an additional $1.00 will be added, resulting in a $2.00 charge. The rate goes up to $3.00 at 61 minutes, $4.00 at 121 minutes and so on and so forth.”
Mr. Fraser stated that after the initial ticket is collected, a person can drop off their passengers at the terminal or park in the parking lot.
He said, “When you are ready to leave, pay at theautomated pay machinesituated immediately outside of the terminal building. Upon payment you will receive a receipt. Then you will have 5 minutes to exit the airport without incurring any additional costs.”
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour, Mr. Ronald Smith Berkeley is encouraging customers to be patient as the BVIAA continues to improve the security system at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport for the betterment of the Territory.
The BVI Airports Authority has also closed off the exit roadto Trellis Bay from the Terminal Building.
