Press Release
APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR VI ASIA STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMME
The Ministry of Education in partnership with the VI Hong Kong Office have announced the opening of the 2023 to 2024 Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme.
The programme provides financial support to eligible Virgin Islanders to pursue Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral, and language programmes at world class universities in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Taiwan.
The Asia scholarship programme supplements the existing 30-year relationship between the Virgin Island’s Financial Services Sector and the Asia-Pacific, and presents Virgin Islanders with opportunities to familiarise themselves with the region through a wide range of academic, professional, and cultural experiences. The scholarships are based on a three-way funding model between partnering Asian universities, the VI Government, and the private sector.
Students undertake studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Environmental & Sustainable Development, Education, Media Studies, Tourism, Hospitality, Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, Public Policy, Chinese Language (Mandarin), and other available subjects of necessity to the Territory’s economy.
Awardees are also eligible for a combination of tuition, housing, return flight tickets, and a living allowance based on eligibility, course of study, and availability of funds. To apply, prospective students will need to email a letter of interest including their name, age, employment, student status, and study area to studyinasia@bvihongkongoffice.com.hk .
Fully complete online university applications to two (2) of our participating universities at www.bvihongkongoffice.com.hk/en/education-asia-studyabroad-scholarship-programme.
Applications close Monday, February 15 at 11:59 p.m.
The BVI Hong Kong Office is the Government of the Virgin Island’s office tasked with representing the broad interests of the Territory in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Strategically located in the centre of East & South East Asia, the Hong Kong Office was launched in September 2013 initially to facilitate the greater expansion of the VI’s Financial Services Industry into China, East Asia, and South East Asia markets.
Over the course of a decade, the role of the office has evolved to facilitate VI’s interests in the areas of education & cultural exchange, environment, finance, foreign direct investment, international development cooperation, provincial & city level partnerships, and tourism across the region.
