Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Dr. Natalio Wheatley has said that his Government has overcome significant milestones across numerous sectors in 2024 to contribute to a stronger, more vibrant, and sustainable future for all residents of the Virgin Islands.

Premier Wheatley in his 2025 Territorial Address themed, “Planning, Priorities and Progress (2024) and Laying the Blocks of Success (2025) Building a Sustainable Nation” outlined the various accomplishments that the Government of the Virgin Islands has achieved since taking office, but more specifically in their second year in office.

The Premier said these included road repairs and upgrades, the Water and Sewage Department launching its payment portal and upgrading the pipeline system, the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation launching its STEP programme and upgrades to electrical infrastructure, enhancing legislation and progress on the expansion of the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport.

Premier Wheatley said, “The past year has been characterised by resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to improving our beloved Virgin Islands. We will also highlight our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and the principles of good governance that guided our actions.”

The Premier added, “All these achievements align with our program, policy, and legislative goals reflected in the 2025 Budget Address and Throne Speech, guided by the six national goals of the NSDP: Economy, Infrastructure, Health and Wellness, Education and Learning, Environment, and Good Governance & Leadership.”
