Sixteen Junior Customs Officers have completed a one month training course facilitated through the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC).

The Junior Officers Basic (JOB) training saw the junior officers receiving training in several areas including communication, ethics and integrity, cargo reporting and processes, tariff preferences, and clarification and accounting.

Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor Mrs. Sharlene DaBreo Lettsome said, “It is extremely important that our Customs Officers receive the training necessary to conduct their duties efficiently and effectively. We must continually invest in the learning and development of the individuals that are charged with protecting our borders, and ensuring the safety and security of the Territory. This is a welcomed advancement that will result in a more robust, and effective HM Customs."

The Junior Officers Basic Training was held from October 2nd  to 27th and was facilitated by Customs professional from St. Lucia, Mr. Nigel Edwin and then Acting Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority Mr. Dean Fahie.

His Majesty’s Customs Department will continue to serve the Government and the people of the Virgin Islands with professionalism, fairness and integrity by, providing quality service, maximising the collection of revenue, protecting the territorial borders and safeguarding the well-being and security of the Territory.
