Water And Sewerage Virgin Gorda Branch Adjusts Operations

As we live and work with COVID-19, the operations of the Public Service will continue. However, to better serve our clients safely, the Water and Sewerage Department, Virgin Gorda branch, will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, 12 January to Thursday, 13 January to ensure that the health and safety of its officers and the clients it serves.

Department of Motor Vehicles Adjusts operations

However, to better serve our clients safely, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) at Pockwood Pond, Tortola, will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, January 12 to Friday, January 14 to ensure that the health and safety of its officers and the clients it serves.

Appointments can be made by contacting the Public Service Customer Service Care Centre via telephone at 468-3701 or online at www.bvips.org. when services resume.

Water And Sewerage Department On Virgin Gorda Closed

Survey Unit Resumes Services by Appointment Only

The public is advised that the Survey Unit of the Land and Survey Department has reopened but will serve clients by appointments only.

To schedule an appointment with the unit, persons can telephone 468-4321 or email landandsurveydept@gov.vg.

Ministry of Finance Temporary Closure

The public is advised that the Ministry of Finance’s administrative office at Qwomar Building No. 2 will be providing remote services from Monday, January 10 to Monday, January 17.   

Physical operations will resume on Tuesday, January 18. In the interim, all mail and packages should be delivered to our office at the Rita Frett Georges Building located across from the Road Town Roundabout and next to the old market place. Persons can contact the Ministry via telephone at 468-2144.

No Visitation to the Prison Until Further Notice

The public is notified that due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, His Excellency the Governor John Rankin and Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone have agreed that there be a suspension of visitation to Her Majesty's Prison until further notice.  

The Government of the Virgin Islands apologies for any inconvenience that may be caused.

Post-Paid Cruising Permits Requirements UPDATED

The public is informed that effective January 17, post-paid Cruising Permits would not be issued to charter operators/companies without an approved Operator Agreement between Her Majesty’s Customs and the company.

Operators wishing to apply can write a letter to request approval to the Commissioner. The letter should include their average charter operations within a 2-week period and the amount of cruising permits they would be requesting.

Agreements can be completed at the Customs Headquarters at the Richard Stoutt Building providing all the requirements are met.

Symposium for Charter Operators Postponed

Magistracy Enforces Covid-19 Operating Protocols

As we live and work with COVID-19 in the Territory, the public is advised that the Magistrate’s Court will not be conducting in-person hearings from January 10 to 24 in the first instance. Persons wishing to conduct business or inquire about the status of their case should contact 468-4360, 468-4367 or 468-3691.

Persons who have travelled outside the Territory within the last 14 days are advised not to visit the office and only customers making payments will be allowed in the building until further notice, providing that they do not exhibit COVID-19 symptoms.  

Renewal of Trade Licenses

The public is notified that the Renewal of Trade Licenses has been suspended until January 13 and the enforcement of late fees will be delayed until February 15.

All work permit applications should be forwarded to the Department of Labour as scheduled and interdepartmental arrangements will be made with the Department of Trade accordingly.

The public is also informed that the Department of Trade will be providing limited remote services only from Tuesday, January 4 to Friday, January 7.
