Thank you for the opportunity to join you today to talk about our work on security here in the Virgin Islands. Before I come to some of the practicalities and the work of the National Security Council - the NSC - I wanted to reflect a little on the broader context.

Tonight I address you on the unfortunate vehicular accident that occurred this evening at Hodges Creek, resulting in injuries to at least one individual. Reports indicate that a vehicle traveling at high speed veered off the road, narrowly missing road workers who were preparing for casting work.

By now you are aware that the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has requested a session of the USVI legislature to deliberate on a proposed 25% tariff on imports coming from the Virgin Islands.

Good morning and welcome to everyone present.  It is my distinct pleasure as Premier of the Virgin Islands & Minister of Finance, Financial Services and Trade, to welcome each of you to today’s Round Table as representatives of BVI’s leading financial services Firms and Trust & Corporate Service Providers here in Hong Kong.

It is a privilege to stand before you today as we embark on a journey that is fundamental to the future of our beloved Virgin Islands the development of our first-ever National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).
