I would first like to thank ECLAC for the opportunity to participate in this important discussion and share the Virgin Islands’ perspective on the topic: Protection of the human rights of older persons in situations of social and environmental disasters.

he Social Development Department to host office hours on Virgin Gorda on Tuesdays and Fridays during the month of November.  A Social Worker will be available at the office location on the 2^nd Floor of the Vanterpool Administration Building between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Social Development Department is notifying the community that the registration process for public assistance through the Transition Grant Programme is now closed.

Persons who were receiving assistance from the House of Assembly are reminded to register for the Public Assistance Programme.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development has solidified its working relationship with the Red Cross by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This morning I have the privilege to outline the transitional grant process for the next three months from July – September 2022. I will further provide information on other support services available to needy households through the Social Development Department.
