His Excellency the Governor Mr. John James Rankin, CMG was sworn in as 14^th Governor of the Virgin Islands at a ceremony on Friday January, 29.

Good Afternoon, my name is Julian Willock, the Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Governor Designate Mr. John James Rankin, CMG will be sworn in as Governor of the British Virgin Islands on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Save the Seed Centre, Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.

Governor Designate Mr. John Rankin, CMG arrived in the Territory this evening.  Mr. Rankin will be sworn in as the 14^th Governor of the Virgin Islands subsequent to the completion of the required 14-day quarantine.

Businessman and Philanthropist Mr. Peter Haycraft was awarded the Order of the British Empire from Her Majesty the Queen for his services to the British Virgin Islands at an Investiture Ceremony today.

Today, I join with the BVI Community in congratulating Dr. Robert Mathavious, LLD on receiving the Order of the British Empire (OBE) recognition from Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II for his unwavering services to the British Virgin Islands.

Dr Robert Mathavious is the Territory’s newest recipient of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours for his contributions to financial services.

Deputy Governor of the Virgin Islands Mr. David D. Archer, Jr., has been appointed as Deputy to Governor from August 10^th to 14th.
