A joint venture between local firms Tandem Development and D & B Heavy Equipment Services Limited has been approved to allow for the construction a state-of-the-art National Emergency Operations Centre, announced Premier and Minister for Finance Andrew Fahie at a signing ceremony yesterday afternoon.

I am happy to see us moving forward with this project to construct a new fit-for-purpose building which will house the Department for Disaster Management (DDM) and the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), two crucial components of our disaster management apparatus.

The public is advised that the lower part of Fort Hill (from Qwomar Trading up to the intersection with Bau Bau Gene Hill) will be closed to ongoing traffic on Tuesday, January 5 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The public is advised that road demolition works at the Hope Hill Project site continues and the road will be closed to ongoing traffic on Friday, December 4 from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The Marine Base of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is expected to be transformed to a 24/7 operation that is bigger, better and able to weather any storm on the completion of the $2,010,000 million-dollar project.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is moving forward with its recovery programme with the signing of Deeds of Contribution to enhance two law enforcement buildings in the Territory—the Magistrate’s Court and Road Town Police Station.
