The Antigua/Barbuda Meteorological Service has discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning for the British Virgin Islands. However, a marine warning remains in place for small craft operators and sea bathers.

National Emergency Operations Centre Gives BVI All Clear

The National Emergency Operations Centre is advising residents of the British Virgin Islands that the Acting Governor, Mrs. V. Inez Archibald, CBE in consultation with the Director of the National Emergency Operations Centre, Ms. Sharleen DaBreo is satisfied that the immediate threat posed by Tropical Storm Erika to the Territory is over.

Tropical Storm Erika 8:00 p.m. Update

At 8:00 p.m., the centre of Tropical Storm Erika was estimated near latitude 16.7 degrees north, longitude 64.7 degrees west or about 109 miles east of the BVI. Erika is moving toward the west near 12 mph. Erika should resume a west-northwest track with a slight increase in forward speed later tonight. This general motion is expected to continue for the next 48 hours. 

Tropical Storm Erika Nearing The Virgin Islands

At 5:00 p.m., the centre of Tropical Storm Erika was estimated near latitude 16.6 degrees north, longitude 64 degrees west or about 117 miles east-southeast of the BVI. Erika is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph. This general motion is expected to continue for the next 48 hours.

Residents of The Virgin Islands, by now you should be aware that a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Territory. This means that we can expect tropical storm conditions in the warning area within 36 hours.

At 11:00 A.M., the centre of Tropical Storm Erika was located near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 57.6 West or about 471 miles east-southeast of the BVI. Erika is moving toward the west near 17 mph, and a west to west-northwestward motion is expected over the next 48 hours.
