Predictions for the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season have been released by several weather and hurricane forecasting institutions with varying reports on the activity level for the season.
The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron known as the Hurricane Hunters of the Air Force Reserve and a team from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s Hurricane Centre made their inaugural visit to the Territory last week.
Members of the Territory Search and Rescue Team (TSART) were presented with TSART branded t-shirts on Friday, March 18 as part of efforts to ensure that the team can be formally identified. The t-shirts were sponsored by Delta Petroleum Ltd.
More than 4,600 persons in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) evacuated buildings and made their way to high points as part of the annual tsunami simulation exercise, on Thursday, March 17, titled ‘CARIBE WAVE 16’.
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) Seventh-day Adventist School and the Little Litehous Child Development Centre are the first two schools in the Territory to receive SMART School certification from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
