The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands has approved the expenditure of $442,000 to allow for the release of immediate funds to re-establish the National Early Warning System.

The Territory’s residents will participate in the upcoming CARIBE WAVE 18 tsunami exercise scheduled to take place on March 15.

The processes used to distribute aid to the affected communities throughout the Territory following the impacts of hurricanes Irma and Maria are to be audited.

The public is invited to the book launch ceremony for, ‘The Irma Diaries’, a book which takes readers through the impact of the strongest hurricane to ever make landfall in Atlantic history,  through compelling and very personal survivor stories from the Virgin Islands.

‘The Irma Diaries’, a book produced by local author, Ms. Angela Burnett, will officially be launched at the British Virgin Islands International Arbitration Centre, on Tuesday, December 19 at 5:00 p.m.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, successfully concluded his attendance at the annual UK-Overseas Territories Joint Ministerial Council (UK-OT JMC) in London from November 28-29.

Today, November 30 marks the end of what many will remember as the worst hurricane season ever!

At 11:00 p.m. the eye of Hurricane Irma was located near latitude 17.4 North, longitude 61.1 West. Irma has now taken a west-northwest track near 15 mph, and this motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.
