The British Virgin Islands has embraced the Paris Agreement endorsed by one hundred and ninety five countries at the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick D. Pickering  has highlighted what the environmental future of the Territory would look like if nothing is done to mitigate the effects of Climate Change.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. Hon. Kedrick Pickering has called on the United Nations to provide technical and other support to small island developing states to assist them with adapting to the negative impacts of Climate Change, regardless of political status.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE will attend the Joint Ministerial Council Meeting (JMC) and other meetings in the United Kingdom from Thursday, November 26, to Wednesday, December 2. 

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, joined Caribbean leaders in Martinique last week for a regional consultation with the President of France, Francois Hollande.

Premier and Minister for Tourism, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, is away from the Territory leading a two-member delegation to Martinique to attend discussions on climate change.

The Virgin Islands became the first Caribbean Territory and a leader amongst small island states globally in establishing the policy and financing framework needed to address the causes and impacts of climate change.
