Madame Speaker, under the Minimum Wage Order made on November 6, 1979, the minimum wage payable for employment in the Territory was set at $10 per day and on 1^st June, 1994 it moved to $3.00 per hour.   

Madam Speaker, with your kind permission, I beg to make the following statement with regard to the amendments to the Anti-money Laundering Regulations and Anti-money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Code of Practice that have recently been approved.

Madam Speaker, with your kind permission, I will now make a brief statement regarding the amendments to the BVI Business Companies Act, 2004.

Madam Speaker, November is Tourism Month in the British Virgin Islands and I am extending a special invitation to all Members and residents to participate in the celebrations planned by the BVI Tourist Board.

Following the request from the Government of the Virgin Islands to amend the Constitution to allow for the creation of two junior Minister posts, the Governor   conveyed a formal request to the appropriate authorities in the United Kingdom.

 We join with countries around the world in observing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and lend our voices to the call to ‘band together for a cure’ for all cancers. 

My fellow residents of the Virgin Islands, putting a stop to domestic violence is one of the most pressing and important challenges we face as a community and as a people.
