I am holding this press conference today to update you on my recent attendance at the 46th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Georgetown, Guyana from 25th -28th February.

14 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FOUND ON VIRGIN GORDA

Premier Honourable Dr Natalio Wheatley has reacted to today’s publication of the Mutual Evaluation Report (Report) of the Virgin Islands by the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF).

The Government has welcomed the Report and confirmed that it is committed to rigorously implementing its recommendations, as laid out in the National Action Plan, also published today. This implementation process will be observed by the CFATF through its follow-up process.

I greet the Minister of Education and Culture, Principal, other leaders and staff of the Elmore Stoutt High School, and most notably, the staff and students involved in the agriculture programme and largely responsible for today’s exhibition. I was very much looking forward to this event, but I am currently off-island attending to a personal matter.

Madam Speaker, since 17^th September of last year, the residents of Jost Van Dyke have endured inconveniences and uncertainties due to receiving power from a standby generator.

Madam Speaker, the Ministry of Health and Social Development and the Department of Waste Management are diligently working towards our long terms goals in the area waste management for this Territory, and it gives me great pleasure to inform this Honourable House that new equipment to process glass waste collected through our WE RECYCLE Programme is operational at Pockwood Pond.

His Excellency, the Governor Daniel Pruce, chaired the meeting held on 31st January, 2024 at the Premier's Conference Room.
