To award training scholarships to eligible officers annually based on the Government’s training needs and the availability of funds.

Process

Step 1. An officer submits the completed Study Leave Application Form, with supporting documentation to his/her immediate supervisor.

Step 2. The Study Leave Application Form with comments from Supervisor is forwarded to Head of Department or Permanent Secretary for comments and forwarded to the Department of Human Resources for processing..

Step 3. Study Leave Applications are presented to the Study Leave Assessment Board (SLAB) for consideration and decision.

Step 4. The officer will be informed in writing, of the decision of SLAB. If SLAB approved the officer’s request for study leave, the matter is then presented to the relevant Commission for consideration and to advise the Governor on the officer’s
            study leave request.

Step 5. The Commission advises the Governor and the Governor makes the final decision.

Step 6The outcome of the decision is communicated to the officer, in writing, from the Director of Human Resources.

1. Certified copies of secondary and post-secondary certificates;

2. Official copy of Transcript from last institution attended;

3. Acceptance letter from institution that the officer would like to attend;

4. Certified copy of CXC results;

5. Copy of Course outline and associated fees for the programme of study and institution;

6. Surety Information

Eligibility Criteria – 1. Confirmation to the permanent and pensionable establishment; 2. Continuous resident service for at least three years; 3. Acceptance into an accredited College/University; 4. Satisfactory job performance; 5. No pending disciplinary matters.
