Water Bottling/Ice plants are inspected at least twice a year to ensure that the water produced by these plants is potable and does not pose a health risk to consumers.

Process

Step 1:  Submit completed Registration for Water or Ice Plant Form to the Division.

Step 2:  An inspection is scheduled and conducted with the plant/business.

Step 3:  If the plant/business passes the inspection, recommendations will be made to the Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs for licencing.  If the plant/business fails the inspection, recommendations are given to the proprietor for improvement.

Step 4:  The Divison will make periodic inspections for further improvement and compliance.

Any application for the operation of a new commercial water bottling plant or business must provide a layout of the plant and information on their water source and treatment process.  Water Bottling/Ice Plant should have their raw and treated water tested quarterly.  The results should be maintained at the plant for examination by the Environmental Health Officer.
