A case study to evaluate the Territory’s implementation of the ‘Port of Spain Declaration’ was facilitated by the Ministry of Health and Social Development this week.
The study is part of Government’s continued efforts to reduce chronic, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Territory.

His Excellency the Governor John S Duncan, OBE is inviting members of the public to submit nominations for Her Majesty the Queen’s New Year Honours 2016.
The New Year Honours List recognises individuals for outstanding achievement and service across the United Kingdom and the Overseas Territories. Completed nominations must be received by Friday May 8 by email to The Secretary of the Honours Committee at sachinnery@gov.vg or by delivery to the Office of the Governor.

The Town and Country Planning Department is inviting the public to a community meeting to discuss matters regarding the development of the Josiah’s Bay area. The purpose of the meeting is to advise that a plan is underway, encourage citizen participation and solicit issues that should be addressed early in the planning.
The Environmental Health Division is informing and reminding the public that Blue Bell Creameries has recalled its ice cream products from grocery retailers and store shelves worldwide.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick Pickering, has stressed the need for greater engagement between the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the British Virgin Islands as an Associate Member.
Promoting literacy through library services, increasing membership, and promoting the cultural heritage database, are some of the objectives to be achieved as Library Week 2015 is observed from April 19 to 24.
Residents of Anegada are expected to benefit from road works underway on the Sister Island as Government continues its work of improving the road infrastructure of the Virgin Islands.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is working vigorously to build the territory’s infrastructure to a level that will enhance the quality of life for residents of the Virgin Islands. In the shadows of major development projects, such as the Cruise Pier/landside development and the BVI Electricity Corporation Phase V Development Plan, there is a vast amount other projects progressing in the Territory.
