Acting Premier, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick Pickering led a delegation to Antigua and Barbuda on behalf of Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE from October 27 to 28 to discuss issues and seek solutions relative to correspondent banking relationships and its consequence on the Caribbean.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE has concluded a successful meeting of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) Political Council of which he is currently President.
Effective today, all trader declarations will be completed and submitted online through the Customs Automated Processing System (CAPS) as Her Majesty’s Customs moves towards full automation.
The Virgin Islands Shipping Registry (VISR) has won Quality Shipping in the 21st Century (Qualship 21) programme recognition for the year 2017. The department received a Certificate of Achievement confirming that the United States Coast Guard (USCG) officially recognised the VISR for having qualified for inclusion in the USCG Qualship 21 programme.
The Government of the Virgin Islands remains committed to green energy to reduce the Territory’s energy cost and has added 15 solar lights to illuminate along public roads namely Drakes Highway between Pockwood Pond and Fort Recovery.
The Government of the Virgin Islands’ Cabinet has approved the appointment of two new members and the re-appointment of five past members to the BVI Social Security Board.
In an effort to strengthen the development of occupational health and safety in the Territory, an Occupation Health and Safety Subcommittee was established under the Virgin Islands National Health and Wellness Advisory Council.

The Government of the British Virgin Islands is advising the public, especially coin collectors, that a ‘coin’ claiming to be issued in the name of the British Virgin Islands, has been offered for sale to coin dealers and the general public.
