Students will showcase their design and business skills with the ‘School Spirit’ Entrepreneurial Competition on May 11.

The competition is being hosted by the Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs, as an extension of its first Trade Entrepreneurial Week held last month.

Groups of up to four students from each participating secondary school will pitch their designs for a re-imagined school uniform. They will be judged for the innovation of their design and the quality and effectiveness of their delivery before a live panel of judges and audience.

Director of Trade, Mrs. Karia Christopher said, “The overall goal of the competition is to enhance the business knowledge of students. It is also meant to encourage entrepreneurial activity in schools, while boosting school spirit.”

She added, “The preparation for the competition hones the academic and personal development of students, while the culmination of the competition will assist the students in the sharpening of public speaking and delivery skills. Winners will receive tours of regional and international university campuses so that they get a taste of the college experience early.”

The School Spirit Entrepreneurial Competition will be held on Thursday, May 11 at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, H.L. Stoutt Community College at 5:00 p.m. sharp. All are invited to attend the FREE, fun and exciting event.
