The event was held at Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park, Road Town under the theme, "Improve Our Support Systems," and brought together families, caregivers, advocates, and community members in a vibrant celebration of individuals with Down syndrome.
The activities commenced with a motorcade, featuring decorated vehicles traveling through Road Town to raise awareness about Down syndrome. Following the motorcade, participants gathered at Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park for a spirited sports and games day.
Director of Disability Services, Crystal Estridge said the highlight of the day was the enthusiastic participation of individuals with Down syndrome in various games and sporting activities, where they showcased their skills, teamwork, and determination. She said the event not only provided an opportunity for fun and engagement but also reinforced the importance of inclusivity and equal participation.
Ms Estridge, said, "This event was a beautiful reminder of what inclusion looks like in action. Seeing individuals with Down syndrome actively participating, competing, and enjoying the games was truly heartwarming. It reaffirms the importance of creating opportunities where they can be celebrated, empowered, and fully integrated into community life. We must continue to strengthen our support systems to ensure that individuals with disabilities receive the recognition and resources they need to thrive."
The Ministry of Health and Social Development extends appreciation to all participants, volunteers, and stakeholders who contributed to making the event a success.
