The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Ministry of Health and Social Development, is inviting applications from qualified medical practitioners and a registered naturopath to serve as members of the Allied Health Professionals Council.

The Council plays a crucial role in regulating and licensing allied health professionals in the Territory, ensuring high standards of practice and protecting the rights and obligations of practitioners. The Council is responsible for reviewing applications, guiding the registration process, and overseeing compliance with professional and ethical standards.

According to the Medical Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000), the Council will consist of:

  • The Chief Medical Officer (ex officio)
  • Two medical practitioners appointed by the Minister
  • Four Allied Health Professionals (one of whom should be a registered Naturopath) appointed by the Minister

Ideal Candidates

Prospective Council members should exemplify professionalism, integrity, and leadership, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to the Council’s deliberations. Candidates should possess strong communication and decision-making skills, be committed to ethical governance, and demonstrate expertise in their respective fields.

Terms of Service
Appointments to the Council will be for a period of three years, with the possibility of reappointment. No member, except the Chief Medical Officer, shall serve more than two consecutive terms.
