The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Ministry of Health and Social Development is seeking a qualified medical practitioner and Allied Health Professionals to serve as Member of the Allied Health Professionals Council.
The Allied Health Professionals Council (“the Council”) was established under the Medical Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000) now cited as the Medical, Dental and Allied Health Practitioners Act, 2000 as amended (No. 23 of 2020).
The role of the Council is to consider all applications and give direction with respect to the registration of applicants wishing to be registered as Allied Health Practitioners, and the rights, liabilities and obligations of such practitioners or other related matters.
Persons applying to serve on the Allied Health Professionals Council should have the professional competencies that exemplify integrity, respect, and a balance of skills and experience that supports the purpose of the Council.
Members of the Council, other than the Chief Medical Officer, shall hold office for three years, but are eligible for reappointment. No member with the exception of the Chief Medical Officer shall hold office for more than two consecutive terms.
The Act further specifies that no member other than the Chief Medical Officer, shall hold office for more than two consecutive terms, but may be re-appointed after the expiration of one year.
