Update on TS Ernesto Recovery Efforts

Good day to you Virgin Islands.

I hope and pray you have all made it safely through the worst of Ernesto. 

Ernesto has left downed trees and power lines and scattered debris onto the roads of the Territory. At the moment, crews from Public Works, the BVIEC, and telecommunication providers are working to clear roads and restore services. 

I acknowledge the district representatives and the heavy equipment operators who are assisting their communities at this time.

I urge residents to remain safe at home until the all-clear is issued.

Please protect your safety and the safety of our essential workers and allow these crews time to do their work.

Shortly, the National Emergency Operations Centre will convene and receive reports from the various agencies. Further communication will be forthcoming following this meeting.

We are grateful to God for his protection. May his love and mercy be our shelter throughout the remainder of this Hurricane season.
