Two more families are recipients of new homes courtesy the Ministry of Health and Social Development through the Housing Recovery Assistance Programme.

Mr. Stephen Smith and Ms. Naomi Springette received the keys to their homes on Friday, February 18.

Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone said he was happy that he was able to give the recipients the keys to their homes so that their lives could return to some semblance of normalcy.

“It is a great feeling to help persons who are in need. It makes me feel good to know that the programme is accomplishing its mission and bringing smiles to the hearts of those who are really in need,” Honourable Malone said.

Mr. Smith’s home was constructed by KAT Building Group while Quality Construction was Ms. Springette contractors.

The new homeowners were happy and appreciative to the Government of the Virgin Islands and expressed those sentiments during a brief handover ceremony.

Fifteen families have benefited from the Housing Recovery Assistance Programme so far and now have a place to call home. The programme was created in the aftermath of the 2017 catastrophic hurricanes to assist homeowners to repair and rebuild their homes.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of the Virgin Islands.
