The public is advised that due to the passing of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, the Territory will observe a national period of mourning.

In this regard, all flags on Government buildings and service establishments must be flown immediately half-masted from now until 8:00 a.m. on the day after Her Majesty’s funeral (date of funeral still to be confirmed).

There will be an exception when the new King is proclaimed in the United Kingdom, for which Union flags should be put up to full mast – for this, please put up flags to full mast (at the top) from 9:00 a.m. on Saturday 10 September until after the proclamation ceremony in Virgin Islands has finished, approximately 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, 11 September. Flags should then revert to half-mast until the day after the funeral.
