The Government of the Virgin Islands continues to deliver on its commitment to improve the Territory’s infrastructure and is inviting tenders for the reconstruction of road and slope stabilisation works at Huntum’s Ghut.

According to the Director of Communications Mrs. Arliene T. Penn, the proposed works comprise the areas of upper and lower Huntum’s Ghut.

The lower Huntum’s Ghut scope involves the construction of three mass concrete/boulder pack matrix retaining structures and the rehabilitation of road pavement. Upper Huntum’s Ghut involves the construction of reinforced concrete box culverts, kerb, slipper and swale drains.

Mrs. Penn explained, “Works also include furnishing all plant, labour, equipment, materials and performing all operations in connection with the reconstruction of road and slope stabilisation at Huntum’s Ghut.”

“The Government of the Virgin Islands has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank towards the cost of the project. So we are pleased that works to rehabilitate, upgrade, and reconstruct the damaged roads and drainage continues as it seeks to improve the quality of life, not only for residents of the Virgin Islands, but our visitors,” Mrs. Penn said.
