STATEMENT FROM THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY REGARDING
GOVERNOR’S DEPARTURE CEREMONY ATTENDANCE
It is noted that most Members of the Honourable House of Assembly were not in attendance at the Departure Ceremony for Governor John Rankin CMG. Regrettably, apart from the Premier, Leader of the Opposition and Attorney General, no other Member received an invitation to the Governor’s Departure Ceremony. Consequently, the Speaker and other Members were not in attendance at the event.
Upon the Speaker’s inquiry into the matter with the Governor’s office, it was revealed that the ceremony was meant to be intimate and therefore invitations were not extended to the Speaker and other Members of the House of Assembly.
We acknowledge the importance of fostering unity and inclusivity in such occasions, and while the invitation was not extended, the Speaker wishes the Governor well in his future endeavours.
