The Ministry of Education and Culture is once again coordinating church services for schools to be held on Saturday, January 19 and Sunday, January 20, 2019.

The objectives of these services are to offer prayers for all stakeholders and the education system, and to encourage community partnership with churches.  Schools will attend selected churches throughout the community.

The Minister for Education and Culture, Honourable Myron V. Walwyn is in full support of these services and encourages all schools to participate in this activity.

In keeping with the theme Be Disciplined: Achieve Excellence’, the Ministry is asking all churches to take some time during their service to pray for the education system, principals, teachers and students.

Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Connie George said that the focus for this school year is to improve, encourage and promote positive behavior, discipline and excellence.

She said, “We understand that undisciplined students become undisciplined adults. As teachers, parents and members of the community, we need to come together and assist in molding our young people so that they can in turn become outstanding citizens that can ensure a brighter future of our Territory.”

To this end, the Ministry of Education is focusing on positive discipline across all schools in the Territory. We solicit the support of churches for continuous encouragement of the young people in their congregations to be positive examples in the schools they attend and the community.”

The vision of the Ministry of Education and Culture is to develop the mental, physical, social and spiritual being of every individual so that they become responsible and productive in an increasingly vibrant and technological Virgin Islands society.
