SAFETY ALERT - NOTICE TO MARINERS No.2 - 2019
OWNERS, MANAGERS, OPERATORS, SKIPPERS AND MASTERS OF ALL VESSELS
OPERATING AT THE ROAD HARBOUR, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
SEAPLANE TEST LANDING AND TAKE OFF IN ROAD HARBOUR
Mariners are advised that a Seaplane will conduct test operations for landing and take-off in an area to the east of the Passenger vessel berths. This is proposed to take place on the 7th Nov 2019 around 10.00 Hours.
It is expected that Seaplanes will taxi to and from a floating dock moored near the passenger ship berth where passengers will embark and disembark similar to the one shown below for representation.
Mariners are advised to navigate with extreme caution, maintain watch VHF Channel 16, maintain sharp lookout, proceed at a safe speed and strictly follow COLREGS when transiting the waters where the seaplane is proposed to land, take off and conduct passenger operations. Seaplane will monitor and can be contacted on VHF Channel 16.
A seaplane on the water shall, in general, keep well clear of all vessels and avoid impeding their navigation. In circumstances, however, where risk of collision exists, she shall comply with the Collision Regulations.
