The Marine Safety Investigation and Reporting Authority (MSIRA) of the Premier's Office confirms that a single boating incident occurred on Sunday, 6th July, 2025.  The incident involved a Lagoon 46 sailing catamaran, MV Nohea Holokai, which was part of a sailing school charter. The vessel reportedly struck a reef after exiting the Anegada Channel, resulting in structural damage and partial sinking. Fortunately, all 14 individuals on board were uninjured and safely removed from the vessel.

Chief Marine Safety Accident Investigator, Mr. Jerome Padmore, has confirmed that a comprehensive safety investigation commenced on Sunday, 6th July, 2025. Following established protocols, the investigation will gather and analyse information to clarify the circumstances surrounding the accident. Once the investigation is complete, a safety accident report will be made available to the public at an appropriate time.

The MSIRA emphasises that the primary goal of this investigation is to improve maritime safety and prevent future incidents. The findings will not assign blame or determine liability. The Authority will continue its efforts and provide updates as needed. Furthermore, the public is reminded that all marine accidents must be reported to MSIRA, as required by law under Section 7 of the Merchant Shipping (Accident Reporting and Investigation) Regulations, 2020.
