ALL marinas, boatyards, docking facility owners, marine operators, engineers, designers and licenced electricians are being advised of the newly implemented requirements for Marine Electrical Installation.

Article 555 of the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC) Retitled: “Marinas, Boatyards, and Commercial & Non-Commercial Docking Facilities” requires all overcurrent protection device for marinas, boatyards, commercial and non-commercial docking facilities to include ground fault protection, not exceeding 30mA, with a  Class A GFCI protection of (5mA) for marinas and dock convenience receptacles.

Persons involved in shore power service docks to watercrafts are asked to adhere to such requirements as failure to do so will result in potential shock hazard and code violations.
