Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley has expressed gratitude to the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) for its donation of Christmas gifts to more than 100 children across the Territory.

The Government of the Virgin Islands partnered with the FCCA and the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) to bring holiday joy by distributing Christmas gifts to the children at the YEP Headquarters in East End December 16.

Staff from the MSC Virtuosa Cruise Ship entertained the children in Santa Claus and various character costumes while the festive occasion was further enhanced by the sponsorship of jewelers Diamond International.

Premier Wheatley said, “The leadership of the FCCA is a thoughtful group of individuals. Over the years, they have shown they care about the communities they serve. For more than two decades, their gift-giving has brought smiles and filled hearts with joy and hope during this special time of year. On behalf of the Government of the Virgin Islands, I extend our sincere thanks to the FCCA and their co-sponsors for their generosity."

Minister for Ports Honourable Kye M. Rymer, highlighted the significance of community engagement stating that the FCCA has been a steadfast friend and partner to the Virgin Islands through both good and challenging times.

“Their commitment to gift-giving for over 20 years deserves our acknowledgment. I also recognise the Chair and Managing Director at the BVI Ports Authority for their ongoing partnership with FCCA," Honourable Rymer said.

Director of YEP Honourable Stacy Mather also expressed his appreciation to the association for the kind gesture to the children.

Honourable Mather said, “This marks our second time receiving gifts from this initiative. We are incredibly fortunate and grateful for this generosity. Thanks to the kindness of FCCA, Diamond International, and others, our Christmas celebrations begin a little earlier.”

The event was also attended by Junior Minister for Tourism Honourable Luce Hodge-Smith, Deputy Director for YEP Ms. Bianca Dougan; and Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Ms. Haley Trott who moderated the event.

The donation of Christmas gifts is an initiative that underscores the FCCA's broader commitment to engaging Caribbean communities during the holiday season, and ensuring that underprivileged children experience joy and hope through charitable acts.
