The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sustainable Development has officially launched a series of National Tourism Policy Consultation Meetings aimed at engaging the public and key stakeholders in shaping the future of the Virgin Islands’ tourism industry into the month of April. These consultations, which follow the Virgin Islands Tourism Summit 2025, will gather vital input to create a comprehensive National Tourism Policy that will support the long-term growth and sustainability of the tourism sector.

The consultations come after the successful Tourism Summit held on January 16-17, 2025, where local, regional, and international tourism experts gathered to discuss pivotal issues such as destination marketing and branding, tourism product development, sustainability, environmental management, and cultural and heritage tourism. Additionally, two sector-based meetings on the blue economy, the marine sector, food, and culture have already taken place, providing a platform for focused discussions on these critical aspects.

Premier and Minister for Tourism and Culture, Honourable Dr. Natalio Wheatley, highlighted the importance of these consultations, stating, “The development of a robust National Tourism Policy is essential to ensuring that our tourism sector thrives for generations to come. Through these consultations, we seek the input of all stakeholders—tourism businesses, hoteliers, environmental groups, and residents—to shape a policy that balances growth with sustainability. By integrating diverse perspectives, we will create a tourism framework that reflects the aspirations of the Virgin Islands and sets us on a path toward a vibrant and sustainable future.”

A public consultation meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Maria’s by the Sea, focusing on sustainability and eco-tourism. Discussions will cover sustainable tourism development, marine and terrestrial conservation, and the integration of

protected areas into the tourism experience. This meeting is part of a broader series of island-wide consultations across the Virgin Islands, ensuring broad participation from all sectors of society, including tourism businesses, hoteliers, environmental and cultural groups, the business community, and residents of the Sister Islands.

The Ministry encourages all members of the public to participate and contribute their ideas and concerns, ensuring the National Tourism Policy accurately reflects the needs of the Virgin Islands. Following the consultations, a final report and set of recommendations will be compiled, and stakeholders will receive updates on the progress of the policy development.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sustainable Development is committed to fostering an inclusive and sustainable tourism environment, ensuring the Virgin Islands remains a premier travel destination for years to come. For more information on the National Tourism Policy Consultation Meetings and how to participate, please visit the Ministry's website or contact the Ministry of Tourism directly.

Through community engagement and partnerships, the Ministry strives to position the Virgin Islands as a leading destination for cultural, eco-friendly, and heritage-based tourism.
