Mr. Mervin Hastings has been appointed Acting Labour Commissioner in the Department of Labour and Workforce Development.

Mr. Hastings’ appointment follows the retirement of former Labour Commissioner, Ms. Michelle Mclean and is effective March 1, 2024 for a period of two months, or until the vacancy is filled.

The new Acting Labour Comissioner brings 34 years of experience in the Public Service to this role, having served as Acting Deputy Chief Conservation and Fisheries Officer from 2010 to 2020 and as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change for the past 3 years.
