Medical practitioners in the Territory will receive free training in sexual health at a workshop on May 30.

Chief Nursing Officer and Family Health Coordinator, Ms. Jascinth Hannibal said the session is a Continuing Education Unit /Continuing Medical Education event that is targeting both private and public sector doctors and nurses.

Ms. Hannibal added that the event will focus on the area of sexual health and participants will be exposed to current trends, updates and guidelines in the recognition, care and treatment and reporting of sexually transmitted infections and HIV. 

Facilitators from the Ministry of Health’s Public Health Unit will conduct the training workshop, while attendance at the session will be worth three Nursing CEUs/CME credits.

The workshop will be held at the Training Division’s conference room from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Registration will be completed on site. Persons can telephone the Ministry of Health at 468-2280/2271 for more information.          

 

The Family Health Unit is committed to the development of family health programmes in the Virgin Islands using the life cycle approach.
