The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change is inviting applications from interested and qualified persons with industry experience to fill the vacant position of Member on the Land Surveyors Board.
The Land Surveyors’ Board is a statutory entity associated with the Department of Lands and Survey under the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change. Constituted by the Land Survey Ordinance of 1970, the board is tasked with examining, licencing, registering and regulating Land Surveyors within the Territory.
Members main responsibilities
1. Attend meetings
2. Conduct research and present findings
3. Vote on matters before the Board
4. Perform other related functions as necessary
Qualification & Qualities
1. Be permanently resident in the Territory of the Virgin Islands. Belongers preferred.
2. Be a licenced and practicing surveyor in the Virgin Islands for at least four (4) years.
3. Be adept in the use of CAD and other IT software, digital mapping, GIS, GNSS, EDM, drones and hydrography mapping.
4. Be skilled in analytical thinking, communicating, collaborating, exercising discretion, problem-solving, taking the initiative and project/organisational management.
5. Be passionate about elevating local surveying and building laws/practice to best support the development direction and needs of the Territory.
6. Have a strong track record of giving sound and knowledgeable advice on surveying
matters, as well as of advocating for sound lands management.
7. Be nominated in writing by a local surveyor licensed to practice in the Virgin Islands,
preferably a member of the local (professional, NGO) Association of Surveyors.
8. Manage time commitments to meet the Board’s objectives.
9. Possess personal qualities of high integrity, confidentiality and credibility.
Terms of Service:
The appointee shall serve for a period not exceeding three (3) years, and shall be eligible or re-appointment.
