JOINT STATEMENT FROM THE ACTING GOVERNOR, H E DAVID D. ARCHER, JR AND MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND CULTURE, HONOURABLE MYRON WALWYN
Thursday, August 16, 2018

Following the approval of the National Security Council, a number of inmates have returned to the Territory, today 16 August, to continue their sentences in HM Prison Balsam Ghut following their temporary relocation to St. Lucia following the damage to the facility caused by Hurricane Irma last year.

We wish to sincerely thank the Government of St. Lucia and the Bordelais Correctional Facility for their assistance and cooperation during this time.

We wish also to thank the families of those returning now and for those remaining individuals who will return soon, for their patience whilst refurbishments to the HM Prison have been undertaken.

The Prison Authorities will be in direct contact with the next of kin of all concerned to apprise them of the relocation of their relatives.
