Together We Can Make A Difference To Reduce Unnecessary Use Of Plastics

Today is World Environment Day – a chance to consider the amazing environment we have in BVI and the importance of protecting it.

At the Governor’s Office, our aim is to eliminate single-use plastic in our day-to-day operations in the office and from all events at Government House.  The most common examples of single use plastics are cold drinks bottles, packaging and, for certain events, plastic cups, cutlery and straws.

We are all increasingly aware of the risks to our environment from throw-away, non-biodegradable plastics which pollute our beautiful waters and endanger our wildlife. If we all act together we can make a difference and the Governor’s office and Government House will be encouraging our suppliers themselves to take steps to reduce unnecessary use of plastics. We are also looking at ways to increase our recycling of waste. We can all do our bit for the environment.
