The Government of the Virgin Islands will be partnering with telecommunication provider, Digicel to power live results of this year’s Inter-Primary Sports Track and Field Championships as part of the activities to celebrate Education Week 2016.

The Inter-Primary Schools Track and Field Championships will be held on March 10 and 11, and the Elmore Stoutt High School Inter-House Championships begin on March 17 at 1:00 p.m. and on March 18 beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The results will be provided on the bvi.milesplit.com website through the telecommunication provider.

Inter-Primary Championships Meet Director, Mr. Dean Greenaway said, “Digicel is making this possible at a time when local track and field fans log into competitions around the world to see how our athletes are performing in competitions but haven’t been able to do the same at home.”

He added, “Whether in the stadium, in the office or anywhere in the world, alumni of the various schools or track and field fans in general will have the ability to follow the results after each event and keep abreast of the competition score.”

The Inter Primary Championships A Division competition will be on Thursday, March 10 and the Inter Primary Championships B Division will be on Friday, March 10, with the events commencing at 10:00 a.m. on both days after the march pass at 9:00 a.m.

The top sixteen athletes in each event from both divisions will be invited to the BVI Athletics Association Youth Championships on May 13 and 14.  

A system test will be done on Friday and Saturday during the weekend of the BVI Athletics National Jr. Championships, starting at 5:30 p.m.
