The Environmental Health Division will be hosting their annual Food Handlers’ Training for food handlers residing and/or working on Jost Van Dyke on Monday, November 16, 2015.

The sessions will be held at Rudy’s Marketplace conference room in Great Harbour at 10:00 a.m.

Acting Chief Environmental Health Officer, Mrs. Yolanda Penn said officials will register food operators and renew food handler permits for Individuals who will be operating mobile food units during the annual Old Year Celebrations.

Ms Penn stated, “All individuals planning to operate a food stall or mobile food operation for the upcoming 2015 Old Year’s party in Great Harbour Jost Van Dyke must be registered and licensed with the Environmental Health Division.”

Ms Penn added that all booths must be supplied with a hand wash station and proper equipment for holding food at safe temperatures. She said completed applications must be returned to the Environmental Health Division at least one week prior to the event, as unlicensed and unregistered food operations will not be allowed to operate.

Applications for food handlers licences can be collected at the Environmental Health Division office located upstairs the Old Administrative Building on Main Street, Road Town Tortola.

Persons renewing their food handler’s certificates are required to bring their expired certificates, social security card, work permit and/or picture identification.

Persons seeking to obtain a food handlers’ certificate for the first time are also required to bring the result of their Mantoux (skin) and stool tests, work permit and or picture identification, social security card and one recent passport size photograph.
