The Ministry of Health and Social Development will launch its fitness movement challenge with an inaugural walk on March 16.

The walk begins at the Central Administration Complex from 4:00 p.m. and is a part of the territorial wide campaign sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Social Development in collaboration with the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports and the BVI Olympic Committee to inspire the community and promote physical activity and a healthier lifestyle.

Project Coordinator Mr. Jason Rubaine said, “After almost two months of registration we are ready to begin this exciting challenge. We want to congratulate all of the individuals and groups who have accepted this fitness movement challenge and continue to encourage them to always find time for their fitness and health.”

Mr. Rubaine added, “We would like to see all of the individuals and groups registered to be represented at the inaugural walk on Monday March 16 at the Central Administration Building.”

The walk route begins at the Central Administration Building along Waterfront Drive onto the Dual Carriage Way up to ZBVI in Baugher’s Bay and back to the Central Administration Complex.

Persons interested in accepting the Fitness Movement Challenge will have until tomorrow, March 13 to register for this leg of the challenge.

An invitation is also extended to persons who have not registered and accepted the fitness movement challenge to support the event.

“Stop the talk Just Move and Walk,” is the slogan for the Fitness Movement Challenge launched on January 18 to promote physical activity within the Territory.
