Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Zebalon McLean is commending his officers for their quick response in putting out a fire at an apartment building at Sugar Mill Road on Monday, June 1.

Mr. McLean said the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service received a call at the Fire Headquarters at 6:25 p.m. that a house was on fire.  He said his fire officers responded immediately and were able to confine the fire to the bedroom where it started. The blaze was brought under control by 6:39 p.m. and extinguished shortly thereafter.

The Chief Fire Officer said, “I am extremely proud of my officers that they were able to avoid displacing tenants and severe loss to the building’s owner. All our fire officers continue to do an amazing job.”

Mr. McLean is also urging residents to be mindful of their surroundings and mitigate the risk of uncontrolled fires.
