The Agriculture Department is advising all farmers to secure their farms in preparation for Hurricane Danny.

Livestock farmers are requested to move animals from low line areas to a higher elevation. Poultry farmers are requested to turn off the electricity in the pens, remove any excess water to avoid flooding and ensure that there is sufficient feed and water during the storm. All farmers using water tanks are requested to ensure that the tanks are filled to capacity and strapped down during the storm.

Additionally, farmers are encouraged to prune trees for easy wind-flow, prop trees that are bearing and ensure that there is a drain to remove water in low-lying areas. Finally farmers are requested to harvest mature fruits and vegetables and store them in a safe place.
