Today, Disaster Recovery Coordinator, Mr. Brodrick Penn, addressed the United Nations (UN) High Level Pledging Conference at UN Headquarters in New York during its Technical Consultations’ Session.

Mr. Penn’s presentation provided an overview of the Territory's impact assessment, its needs and priorities and Government’s plans for recovery and reconstruction.

He said, “We will be adopting a Smart approach to redevelopment. The vision is to build stronger, greener, better, in a more sustainable and resilient way.”

The Disaster Recovery Coordinator’s presentation paves the way and provides context for Premier, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE’s address tomorrow, November 21 at the high-level segment of the conference.

Premier Smith will address the UN donor conference where he will present the storms impact, explain BVIs vision for recovery, and solicit support for BVI recovery priorities and efforts.

Among other distinguished attendees are UN Secretary General Antonio Guitierez; President of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcak; UNDP Administrator, Achim Steiner; European Union Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica; and CARICOM Secretary General, Irwin LaRocque.

Also in attendance will be international development agencies, foundations, and NGOs, Banks, regional prime ministers and government officials.
