The Department of Human Resources staff have assisted students in job preparation skills at the recently held Career Fair at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC).

Human Resources Manager, Ms. Cara Christopher and Senior Assistant Human Resources Manager Ms. Corina Corea provided resources to students on topics such as resume’ writing, career planning and preparing for interviews. The officers also spent one day with various students conducting mock interviews to aid in their preparation for job interviews in the future. Students were also given guidance and tips for improvement after each mock interview.

Ms. Christopher said, “We enjoyed our time meeting with different students, many of whom are young job-seekers ready to enter the workforce for the first time. It was important to not only guide them through career planning and the job application process but to explain to them the importance of the human resources field and the work that we do at the department.”

Ms. Christopher also noted that they were able to educate interested persons about the Government of the Virgin Islands talent requisition process, including the new online job application platform that is accessible at bvi.gov.vg/employment-opportunities.

Persons interested in applying for open positions within the Government of the Virgin Islands can contact the Department of Human Resources at 468-2178 or hrdbvi@gov.vg.

The Department of Human Resources remains dedicated to delivering the highest quality services to both internal and external customers to ensure human resources needs are met in a fair, just, equitable and consistent manner.
