The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is inviting contributions for the 2017 edition of its Disaster Digest magazine on the theme ‘A SMART Journey—The BVI’s steps to developing SMART Communities’.

The publication will highlight efforts made by the DDM and its partners to establish SMART Communities which embody safe, healthy and green practices. At the same time, the publication will also include articles on disaster risk reduction, building resilience and climate change adaptation (CCA).

Articles will be accepted from disaster management officials, experts, academia, students, partners and community members throughout the Caribbean. Contributors are encouraged to relate their submissions to sustained mitigation adaptation and resilient techniques (SMART).

Articles should be between 1500-2500 words, word processed or type written and must be submitted to the DDM no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31.

The articles may be submitted with or without visual aids.
